मंत्र विज्ञान मंत्र एक गूढ़ ज्ञान है। सद्गुरु की कृपा एवं मन को एकाग्र कर जब इसको जान लिया जाता है, तब यह साधक की सभी मनोकामनाओं को पूरा करता है। मंत्रागम के अनुसार दैवी शक्तियों का गूढ़ रहस्य मंत्र में अंतर्निहित है। व्यक्ति की प्रसुप्त या विलुप्त शक्ति को जगाकर उसका दैवीशक्ति से सामंजस्य कराने वाला गूढ़ ज्ञान मंत्र कहलाता है। यह ऐसी गूढ़ विद्या है जो साधकों को दु:खों से मुक्त कर न केवल उनकी सभी मनोकामनाओं को पूरा करती है, बल्कि उनको परम आनंद तक ले जाती है। मंत्र विद्या विश्व के सभी देशों, मानवजाति, धर्माें एवं संप्रदायों में हजारों-लाखों वर्षो से आस्था एवं विश्वास के साथ प्रचलित है।
मंत्रों के प्रकार
मंत्र दो प्रकार के होते हैं- वैदिक मंत्र एवं तांत्रिक मंत्र। वैदिक संहिताओं की समस्त ऋचाएं वैदिक मंत्र कहलाती हैं और तंत्रागमों में प्रतिपादित मंत्र तांत्रिक मंत्र कहलाते हैं। तांत्रिक मंत्र तीन प्रकार के होते हैं— बीज मंत्र, नाम मंत्र एवं माला मंत्र। बीज मंत्र भी तीन प्रकार के होते हैं — मौलिक बीज, यौगिक बीज तथा कूट बीज। इसी तरह माला मंत्र दो प्रकार के होते हैं— लघु माला मंत्र एवं बृहद माला मंत्र।
बीज मंत्र
दैवी या आध्यात्मिक शक्ति को अभिव्यक्ति देने वाला संकेताक्षर बीज कहलाता है। इसकी शक्ति एवं रूप अनंत हैं। बीज मंत्र विभिन्न देवताओं, धर्मो एवं उनके संप्रदायों की साधनाओं के माध्यम से साधक को भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकार के रहस्यों से परिचित करवाता है। शैव, शाक्त, वैष्णव, गाणपत्य, जैन एवं बौद्ध धर्मो के सभी संप्रदायों में ‘ह्रीं’, ‘कलीं’ एवं ‘श्रीं’ आदि बीजों का मंत्रसाधना में समान रूप से प्रयुक्त होना इसका साक्ष्य है।
बीज मंत्र समस्त अर्थो का वाचक एवं बोधक होने के बावजूद अपने आपमें गूढ़ है। अपने आराध्य देव का समस्त स्वरूप इसके बीज मंत्र में निहित होता है। ये बीज मंत्र तीन प्रकार के होते हैं— मौलिक, यौगिक व कूट। इनको कुछ आचार्य एकाक्षर, बीजाक्षर एवं घनाक्षर भी कहते हैं। जब बीज अपने मूल रूप में रहता है तब मौलिक बीज कहलाता है, जैसे- ऐं, यं, रं, लं, वं, क्षं आदि। जब यह बीज दो वर्षो के योग से बनता है, तब यौगिक कहलाता है, जैसे- ह्रीं, क्लीं, श्रीं, स्त्रीं, क्ष्रौं आदि।
इसी तरह जब बीज तीन या उससे अधिक वर्षो से बनता है, तब यह कूट बीज कहलाता है। यह श्रीविद्या, जैन एवं बौद्ध मंत्रों में अधिक मिलते हैं। खास बात यह है कि बीज मंत्रों में समग्र शक्ति विद्यमान होते हुए भी गुप्त रहती है।
नाम मंत्र
बीज रहित मंत्रों को नाम मंत्र कहते हैं, जैसे- ‘ú नम: शिवाय’, ‘ú नमो नारायणाय’ एवं ‘ú नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय’ आदि। इन मंत्रों के शब्द उनके देवता, उनके रूप एवं उनकी शक्ति को अभिव्यक्ति देने में समर्थ होते हैं। इसलिए इन मंत्रों को भक्तिभाव से कभी भी सुमिरन किया जा सकता है।
माला मंत्र
कुछ आचार्यो के अनुसार 20 अक्षरों से अधिक और अन्य आचार्यो के अनुसार 32 अक्षरों से अधिक अक्षर वाला मंत्र माला मंत्र कहलाता है, जैसे- ‘ऊँ क्लीं देवकीसुत गोविंद वासुदेव जगत्पते। देहि में तनयं कृष्ण त्वामहं शरणं गत:।’
माला मंत्रों के वर्णो की पूर्व मर्यादा 20 या 32 अक्षर हैं, लेकिन इनकी उत्तर मर्यादा का मंत्रशास्त्र में उल्लेख नहीं मिलता। इसलिए माला मंत्र कभी-कभी छोटे और कभी-कभी अपेक्षाकृत अधिक लंबे होते हैं।
