आप शिव जी की आराधना करें वही कोई उपाय बताएंगे That's no way to tell you to worship Shiva

हिन्दू धर्म शास्त्रों में भगवान भोलेनाथ के अनेक कल्याणकारी रूप और नाम की महिमा बताई गई है। भगवान शिव ने सिर पर चन्द्रमा को धारण किया तो शशिधर कहलाये| पतित पावनी मां गंगा को आपनी जटाओं में धारण किया तो गंगाधर कहलाये| भूतों के स्वामी होने के कारण भूतवान पुकारे गए| विषपान किया तो नीलकंठ कहलाये| आपने भगवान भोलेनाथ और माता पार्वती की अर्द्घनारीश्वर तस्वीर जरूर देखी होगी। शिव पार्वती के अन्य स्वरूपों से यह स्वरूप बहुत ही खास है। इस स्वरूप में संसार के विकास की कहानी छुपी है। शिव पुराण, नारद पुराण सहित दूसरे अन्य पुराण भी कहते हैं कि अगर शिव और माता पार्वती इस स्वरूप को धारण नहीं करते तो सृष्टि आज भी विरान रहती।
अर्द्घनारीश्वर स्वरूप के विषय में जो कथा पुराणों में दी गयी है उसके अनुसार ब्रह्मा जी ने सृष्टि रचना का कार्य समाप्त किया तब उन्होंने देखा कि जैसी सृष्टि उन्होंने बनायी उसमें विकास की गति नहीं है। जितने पशु-पक्षी, मनुष्य और कीट-पतंग की रचना उन्होंने की है उनकी संख्या में वृद्घि नहीं हो रही है। इसे देखकर ब्रह्मा जी चिंतित हुए। अपनी चिंता लिये ब्रह्मा जी भगवान विष्णु के पास पहुंचे। विष्णु जी ने ब्रह्मा से कहा कि आप शिव जी की आराधना करें वही कोई उपाय बताएंगे और आपकी चिंता का निदान करेंगे।
ब्रह्मा जी ने शिव जी की तपस्या शुरू की इससे शिवजी प्रकट हुए और मैथुनी सृष्टि की रचना का आदेश दिया। ब्रह्मा जी ने शिव जी से पूछा कि मैथुन सृष्टि कैसी होगी, कृपया यह भी बताएं। ब्रह्मा जी को मैथुनी सृष्टि का रहस्य समझाने के लिए शिव जी ने अपने शरीर के आधे भाग को नारी रूप में प्रकट कर दिया।
इसके बाद नर और नारी भाग अलग हो गये। ब्रह्मा जी नारी को प्रकट करने में असमर्थ थे इसलिए ब्रह्मा जी की प्रार्थना पर शिवा यानी शिव के नारी स्वरूप ने अपने रूप से एक अन्य नारी की रचना की और ब्रह्मा जी को सौंप दिया। इसके बाद अर्द्घनारीश्वर स्वरूप एक होकर पुनः पूर्ण शिव के रूप में प्रकट हो गया। इसके बाद मैथुनी सृष्टि से संसार का विकास तेजी से होने लगा। शिव के नारी स्वरूप ने कालांतर में हिमालय की पुत्री पार्वती रूप में जन्म लेकर शिव से मिलन किया।
